Making each illustration was like a prayer

The Guild Onze Lieve Vrouw ter Nood in Tilburg asked me to make 35 illustrations for a booklet that would be published in 2020 because Tilburg was liberated 75 years ago. My illustrations of the war memorials, commemorative images and tiles are provided with texts by Paul Spapens.

What’s more: while I was illustrating the coronavirus broke out. It was uncertain what was going to happen to mankind. Every illustration I made was like a prayer to Our Lady of Need. This made the project all the more special to work on.
